Just An Update

By sweethomealabama

Nothing too exciting to report in this post, so I will just give an update on things. The weather has been unusually dry for the past week (no rain) and it was actually quite plesant walking to the mall today as there was a slight breeze to cool down the mostly sunny skies. We stopped to have some “Ka Mong Guy” for breakfast, which is boiled chicken over rice (one of my favorite dishes), and on the way, we passed what seemed to be dozens of new food vendors that we had never seen before frying, cooking, and selling all sorts of treats and dishes. Maybe it is a good thing that we do not go out for breakfast too often as I am sure that I would eat much more than I currently do. Speaking of eating, Sup stopped by yesterday after class to talk about research, teaching, and everything else. Afterwards, Jet, Sup, and I travelled to the 6th floor of the mall to eat at Sizzler for dinner. We got the all-you-can-eat soup and salad buffet that came with the meal we ordered (chicken, fries, sausages, fish, etc.), which for the 3 of us cost $17 (600 baht). It is much more expensive than what we could buy out on the street, but the food was good and we had a lot to talk about, so the money was well spent in my opinion.

We are now nearing the end of the semester as I have class tomorrow (Friday), Monday, student presentations on Wednesday, and the final exam next Friday. I am actually glad that our time is almost ending – not because I don’t like it here, but because I am anxious to get back to JSU (I was fortunate to get a class to teach right after I return) and for the upcoming move back to Wisconsin. There are quite a few things on the plate right now. Jet cancelled her class for tomorrow and had it rescheduled for today because she originally planned on returning home to Phitsanulok for the weekend to watch Ben. Jet’s Mom was planning on attending a conference in Chiang Mai, but in the last few days has changed her mind. With this new information, Jet is taking full advantage of the day off tomorrow by staying in Bangkok for the weekend and registering for Thai cooking classes on Friday and Saturday. The classes are quite expensive (around $370 or 13,000 baht), but Jet has said that these are going to be very extensive classes and she should learn a lot. After nearing her first semester of teaching in nearly 7 years, she deserves a chance to enjoy herself. Her classes appear to be going quite well as she is bringing in her second brand manager guest speaker today (from Reuters). The previous guest speaker was from Tipco, a popular juice manufacturer in Thailand.

So that is all for now. We are thinking of going to MBK tonight for some shopping. While Jet will be taking Thai cooking classes the next two days, I will be making final preparations for my upcoming class at JSU. Needless to say, things will continue to be busy for us.

Wow, for some reason your stay this year seems to be going faster than last. I can’t wait till you guys move back. Dad was a little long in the face when I told him you were planing on renting if you didn’t have housing secured by the time you moved here. He was looking forward to the company.
Are all meals the same there? Here you have diffrent foods for every meal. There it seems like you have the same choices all the time. Just an observation.
The weather here has been HOT. I don’t want to complain, first it’s too cold, then it’s too hot. But the last 3 days have been 90 and humid. Today seems to be more of the same. They keep telling us there is a chance of rain, but none yet.
Summerfest starts today!!!! I am going and meeting up with the girls tonight. It should be fun, as long as it doesn’t rain on us. Then tomorrow the Brewer game with the people from work. We are tailgating before, then taking in the game. It should be nice weather, 87 and sunny. Summer is in full swing. Church festivles, Summerfest, Greekfest… life is good. Hope you are still planning on coming making State Fair.
Josh started summer school yesterday and said he loves it. I hope he doesn’t goof off next year just so he can go again. His baseball season is coming to a close, thank goodness.
Ty is Ty. His season is also coming to a close, but I’m sure he couldn’t recall any part of it. He is more intrested in burying the bases than watching the ball. He got an unbelivable report card, testing above grade level on many things. I see another Andy in the works. How does that go “book smart, street ….” you know the rest.
Sam keeps us on our toes. She is a very demanding creature. Grandma has her convinced she is going to ballet school. Bryon keeps telling her she is going to do soccer. I know where this is going. She loves watching your video’s and seeing Ben. I can’t wait till they can play.
Well I suppose I should get going. I want to wash the shower before work.
We’ll miss you at the 1st annual Ciganek Family Picnic saturday. It should be a fun day of eating, swimming, fishing and the kids playing. Then I heard that Chris might come into town Sun (his 40th birthday is the 27th). Hopefully we can spend some time with him.
Miss you guys lots. Talk to you soon. Has the count down started?

Hello, yes it really is me. I’ve been trying to stay current on reading the blog. Does seem like your time there has gone by quickly. It has been very hot here the last few days. I think that I can actully hear my garden grow at night it’s been so hot and humid. Just have been working and getting ready for a new model year of motorcycles. We pick up our new bike on Saturday. Hey what’s this about a Ciganek Family Picnic on Saturday?? And Chris turning 40, pretty soon he will pass me up. I think we stop having birthdays’ at a certain age, just ask your dad. :) Going to the Brewer’s game on Monday and sitting in the Harley Deck. When you sit in the Harley Deck your ticket includes a full tailgate buffet and 2 beers + free parking as long as you ride your Harley. GO BREWER’S. So has everyone got there order in for #4 jersey’s in purple. NOT!! I say bring it on and let’s see how many interceptions we get off of OLD #4. HA!!! Jeff has been golfing and doing dry land practice for speed skating, he was also called backed to teach at Marquette again next year. This is good as he really liked teaching there. I may be in another PSA public service announcemnt commercial this year on Channel 12 prmoting the Harley team for the Komen Race for the Cure, which is on Sunday, Sept 27th this year, save the date for all you runners and walkers too. Well gotta run, lunch is over. Hugs, Aunt Sue
PS Jet sorry about your grandmother passing away.
