Rainy Days And Mondays

Well, we are back from Charleston and we have had mostly rain since our return on Saturday night.  There doesn’t appear to be any rain in the forecast for the next 7 days, though, and with temperatures back in the 70’s, we will be just fine.  The conference went well as Jet and Ben had a great time with Amber and Olivia.  I gave all three presentations on Friday, so it was a pretty busy day, but it allowed me to relax for the next day before we left for home.  On Thursday night at a little after 7:00pm (8:00pm local time), we went out to eat together.  We drove around for a short bit until we found an open parking spot (street parking) right across the street from a Louis Vuitton shop and right in front of the Old Town Restaurant.  We figured it was fate so we ate gyro platters there, which tasted pretty good – maybe because we were so hungry at the time.  We also ate together for dinner at the conference reception on Friday night at the hotel and at the conference close lunch on Saturday.  All of the food was delicious.

I was elected to be the program chair for the conference next year (2010), which will be in Atlanta, and is a pretty big commitment.  The role of the program chair is primarily collecting all of the papers that are submitted to the conference, getting lots of people to review those papers, evaluating which papers are accepted, and getting final drafts from all accepted papers.  Since Atlanta is such a short distance from us, I have also agreed to help the conference chair work on the details of selecting a conference hotel and various other duties – perhaps as early as next weekend visiting hotels and getting quotes.  I want to be involved in this process as the following year (2011) I will take on the role of conference chair.  The year after that (2012) I will take on the role of president.  So it really is a big commitment, but it is one that I am looking forward to.

Not much happening this week as it is spring break.  I have a lot of grading and work to catch up on, so I will likely spend a few days at school, but hopefully get a chance to get a bit of extra sleep in.  I have a visit with the dentist scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) at 3:00pm that I am not looking forward to.  While I was taking a bite chewing gum on Friday, it felt as if the filling in one of my back left teeth had come out and was quite painful for about 3 seconds.  After spitting the gum out, I did not notice any difference in my teeth – perhaps it came out and went back in?  Is that possible?  Anyways, I hope the dentist will be able to fix whatever that was tomorrow.  After all, it has been at least 10 years since I had those fillings first put in.  Don’t they have a shelf life?

Oh yeah, here are some pictures.  It has been about a month since I last posted some – sorry!  But then again, there haven’t been too many comments on here lately either – the road goes both ways!  Enjoy.

Hi guys! How’s it going? Been keeping myself busy here. I been working lots and chasing the kids the rest of the time! Katie is about a week at the most away from crawling. She’s ever so close, and then the real fun begins with her in everything and Abby yelling at her to get out of stuff every other minute. Abby has been doing really well, still a bit sassy, but having lots of fun. Her imagination is in full gear as well, she turns everything into some other object (like a shovel is a sword) and has been spending more time playing/talking to herself, very interesting to listen to. Katie is battling her 3rd or 4th cold of the winter, I guess one last go before the weather warms up. Speaking of which, it’s supposed to be 70 outside tomorrow, and I’m off of work!! Great weather for a walk but Jeremy said the swings aren’t out at the park yet.
I’ve been filling in on a lot of third shifts lately due to illness, but it’s easy to do when you know the kids are asleep and it pays well. Of course the only trouble is catching up on the sleep you lose out on afterwards.
Not much else going on other than I did get out this past Saturday night and had some green beer with friends so at least it’s not all work and no play!
Have a great night and I will try to be a good girl and “blog” you sooner next time!!

Beautiful outside and I still have a cold. What a way to enjoy the day.
All is well otherwise up here in Appleton. Jacob turned 9 on Monday. Taylor needs to give Maggie a call so the teacher can talk some sense into her.
Jenna is getting bigger and bigger. 90% for everything yet but she is not chunky so I do not understand the weight thing. I really enjoyed the times where she could not stand up. You name it, she crawls up to it and stands up. She has also made her first steps this past weekend. She stood up on one of her toys with wheels and just walked accross the living room. Can’t wait to take her outside today!
Hope all is well with everyone. Talk to you soon.

Hey you guys, for some reason my computer is not letting me open your picture albums. Something else for you to fix when you get back.
I would like to be the first to volunteer to help read the papers you will have to sort through, I’m sure that the guys at work would also love to help (you didn’t say any experience was necessary). WHat ever it takes.
Just getting ready for Sandy’s big party this weekend. Looks like there should be 50 or so people there. Will keep you posted.
THe weather is dreary today, we were so spoiled with the past days. Oh well, March will be over soon enough. At least there is a hint that the lawn is turning green again.
Lots of noise here. I have no idea how Sam is sleeping. THey are working on the upstairs bathroom. THe new counter and backsplash look great. Added some new hardware and I have a new kitchen Well almost new.
Well I’ll talk to you later. Keep me posted on the home sale. Hope everyone is healthy.

    Hello Andy & Jet,
I hope I have at least 2 weeks yet before the newest cousin arrives – we’ll see.
It was terrible here on Monday night and Tuesday. Nathan tossed cookies starting at 9pm and went clear through the night about every 1/2 hour. Then Jake decided to join in like at 1am. Megan has a cough and runny nose and Michaela has a runny nose.
Everyone seems to be better today – at least no more cookie tossing : )
The house you sent looks very neat. Michaela wants it so that she can have “her own room”.
Wow! Your school year is almost over. When do your JSU responsibilities end for this semester?
    Take care!
