Roll Tide

I have been slow to post these past few days because I have been busy getting ready for the upcoming semester.  What a great win for Alabama the other day in the BCS National Championship game!  That makes UW-Whitewater the Division 3 champions, Alabama the BCS champions, now what about the Packers?  Perhaps I am speaking too soon and being too greedy as a football fan.  We had a Thai ceremony at our house this past week to bless our new home, which I was able to a quick few video clips of here.  That was a great experience, but since then it has been all work round the clock.  The new semester begins in just over 1 week, whether I am ready or not.  Roll Tide!

    Hi Andy, Jet,

I have to respond to this post and I apologize for not being more faithful in presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ when we were neighbors in Oxford. I was very remiss in this regard, for the Bible commands all who know Christ to fulfill the Great Commission by going into all the world to preach the gospel to every creature (Matt. 28:18-20).

Andy, I would very much like for you and Jet to consider the claims of Christ, particularly His deity (for He was God incarnate) and the fact that only through receiving Him as Saviour and Lord can one go to Heaven.

Christianity is the only true religion (it’s actually a relationship rather than a religion), for this faith worships the God-Man who was resurrected from the dead (after dying a horribly painful and agonizing death for our sins on Calvary’s cross) and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God in heaven making intercession for us. I Tim. 2:5 states, “For there is ONE GOD and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, the man Christ Jesus who gave Himself as a ransom for all men.”

Christ was very dogmatic in John 14:6 when He stated, “I am the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through me.” “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Andy, it hurts me greatly to see you and Jet (and eventually your precious son, Ben) following a futile religion in Buddhism. All the world’s religions except Christianity lead a person straight to Hell. Contrary to what Oprah, Obama, and many others in today’s world are saying, there is only ONE PATH to Jehovah God and that is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Otherwise, Christ died in vain if there were other ways to get to God the Father.

The Bible states in Rev. 20:15 that, “Whosoever’s name was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” I know, no one wants to talk about that awful place and I cringe when I think of it, but according to the scriptures hell is a real place where “the worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.” (Mark 9:48). Jesus talked more about hell than He did about heaven. He died so we don’t have to go there. He “does not wish that any should perish, but that all might come to repentance.”

Andy and Jet, please take a look at the claims of Christ as I admonish you to receive Him into your hearts and lives before it is everlastingly too late. The signs of the end times outlined in Matt 24 have all been fulfilled and are “all around us.” The next event on God’s prophetic calendar is the Rapture of the Church. After that event, it’s too late to receive Christ.

Please, I beg of you, do not miss out on the greatest opportunity in the world to spend all of eternity in a place called Heaven (John 14) instead of Hell with Satan and all of his demons and the unsaved.

Andy and Jet, I have tried to speak “the truth in love.” Once again I apologize for not presenting the gospel when we were neighbors and when I could have turned to more scriptures to show the truth of God’s absolute, inerrant, infallible, and inspired Word. I was simply not a faithful steward of my time, talents, and energy during the 2.5 yrs. we were in Oxford and for this I am very regretful.

The Lord is blessing us greatly here in Scottsboro, the prettiest place we have ever lived where “the mountains meet the lakes.” I’ll send some pictures if you want me to. We are where God wants us, as we are busy “about the Father’s business” of proclaiming the Word to all who will listen. We are truly experiencing JOY, the most infallible sign of God’s presence.

I would not be your friend, Andy and Jet, if I did not present the truth concerning Christ to you. Please receive this letter in the spirit of love in which it is sent. Write when you have time. Congratulations, Andy, on all your accomplishments in the academic world. And congratulations, Jet, on your new job which must be very satisfying as you help others.

    Love in Christ,
    Tom Guin
